If you’re considering repainting your business, office space, or home, you’re probably agonizing over color choices. Which colors will be the most popular in 2019? SmithPro Commercial Painting takes a look at the big picture to help you choose the right hues now so there’ll be no blues later (unless, of course, blue is exactly what you wanted).
From Forest Green to Hunter Green, darker and naturalistic green tones are big for 2019. Given that natural colors and textures are having a moment right now, there’s another upshot to using green for indoor spaces: not only does it bring a bit of the outside indoors — especially useful for rooms that don’t have natural views — but it also complements other natural, earthy colors.
Pantone picks an annual color that ends up dominating everything from graphic design to interior decor. This year’s candidate is 16-1546, less prosaically called Living Coral . Its warm, sherbet-like tone won’t be ideal for every space, but if you want a vibrant and cheerful look, it’s a great candidate.
If you grew up in the 1970’s, you probably remember mustard. It’s back, and it’s bringing some other old favorites — like pastels and vibrant colors inspired by sea spray and Seattle skies — along for the ride.
Industrial-inspired colors are also in vogue right now. Names like Pewter, Blueprint, Charcoal, and Stainless Steel aren’t as severe as their names would suggest, but if you desire a look that’s bold yet conservative, they make a clear statement.
Of course, other parts of the color wheel never go out of style. Off-whites are always a safe bet, since you can give just a bit of tint to offset the harshness of pure white but also have a look that won’t be dated in a few years’ time. Besides classic eggshell, ask your commercial painting contractor about whites that incorporate hints of blues, reds, or nearly any other color you’d like.
So far, we’ve covered the colors that are “hot” for 2019. The upshot of using these colors is that you’ll have a workspace that’s on trend — temporarily. But since a professional job done by commercial painting contractors will last you for many years, the color scheme you choose is likely to outlive current tastes and trends. So how might you hedge your bets?
Choosing a neutral color palette is always a best practice. If you don’t want a space that looks sterile, you can always use colors to accent. Sometimes that will come from your paint choices, with a splash of color drawing attention to architectural details, trim, or an accent wall. But there are also ways to incorporate color into a space that have less to do with paint than with decor choices. If you have a striking piece of art, or if you prefer to make a statement with furniture, throw pillows, or upholstery, you’ll find it easier keeping a room that looks fresh. SmithPro Commercial Painting has been around long enough that we’ve seen many trends come and go (and come back yet again), so we’re uniquely positioned to help you make choices you won’t tire of over the long term — and that will ensure that your space communicates your style and your values for years to come.
